Welcome to the hub city! Strategically located in the South East Asia, Singapore acts as a gateway to other tourist locations in South East Asia and South Asia. But it is not just as a gateway for tourists that Singapore is famous for. Singapore is an extremely popular tourist destination itself, attracting travelers from around the world to enjoy one of the most modern cities in Asia.
For a small city, Singapore still has quite a lot for travelers- be it for business travel (being the business hub of South East Asia) and for tourists, particularly shoppers who find Singapore a retail shopping haven. Besides being the Asia Pacific regional headquarters for several multi-national businesses, Singapore is a premier MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences & Exhibitions) destination; the really high quality convention centers, top-class five star hotels and luxury hotels are what make Singapore such an attractive MICE destination (of course, not to forget the shopping opportunities that Singapore offers; what's a MICE trip without some serious shopping!).
Singapore hotels & resorts: In-city & away from the hustle & bustle.
Though a small, modern & ultra-efficient city (that some find disconcerting), Singapore is lush green--- the dull grey & shiny white of concrete and glass buildings are interspersed amongst generous expanses of fresh green.
A number of the luxury hotels in Singapore are located in the heart of the city---- the famed Raffles Hotel or the Fullerton Singapore are just two examples.
But for those who still prefer to get the feeling of being away from the hectic pace of the city, there are some wonderful luxury hotels in the beautiful island of Sentosa. Of course, in Singapore one is never really too far away from anywhere--- which is both a positive and negative--- partly due to the excellent public transport system in the country.
Integrated resorts in Singapore- luxury tourism goes to new levels
Singapore has reinvented itself every few years, adapting quickly to the changing dynamics of the world around it. The decision to allow for casinos in Singapore as part of two large integrated resorts, which until a few years was a strict no-no, is a perfect example of this.
After much internal discussion and debate within the country, the decision was finally made to go ahead with two grand integrated resorts, one in the city and the other in Sentosa. By 2008, these resorts --- which will have every thing from hotels, convention centers, casinos-- will be operational in Singapore.
These two resorts are expected to grow the tourist appeal of Singapore manifold. Singapore is well and truly on its way to positioning itself as the happening global city, which has lots to offer for everybody--- be it the enthusiastic shopper, the MICE organizers, the casual tourist looking to experience Asia as well as those who don't mind rolling the dice?
